Can We Afford Our Parents?
Addressing the Aging Population and Planning for the Future
Register now!
As we navigate the complexities of aging, it becomes increasingly vital to address the various aspects that influence the quality of life for our seniors. We are excited to announce a community forum dedicated to discussing important topics related to aging and financial planning. This event is not just a gathering; it is a commitment to enhancing the well-being of our elderly population in Oregon City and Clackamas County.
During the forum, we will delve into various housing options available for seniors, emphasizing affordability and suitability. Understanding these housing choices is crucial for ensuring that our elderly community members and their families can find safe, comfortable, and appropriate living arrangements as they age.
In addition, we will provide a comprehensive overview of Medicaid and Medicare, two critical programs that play a significant role in supporting seniors. We will clarify eligibility requirements, discuss the spend-down process, and examine how these programs impact long-term care. Finally, we will discuss the difficulties surrounding hospital discharges and placement, along with solutions to help families better prepare for these challenging situations, including the importance of advance directives and the use of a POLST form (Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment).
Our goal is to empower attendees with the knowledge needed to navigate these complexities, ensuring that they can make informed decisions about their health and financial futures for themselves and their loved ones.
Let us come together to share insights, collaborate, and work towards enhancing the lives of our seniors. Join us in this essential dialogue, as we strive to build a stronger, more informed community that prioritizes the needs of our aging population. Together, we can foster economic growth and support for seniors in Oregon City and Clackamas County. Your participation is crucial. Let’s make a difference together!
