With the economy booming with record low unemployment, how does our region and community stack up in attracting new businesses and industry to our area? What advantages and disadvantages do we encounter in keeping family-wage jobs from moving elsewhere? Come hear Larry Holt of Greater Portland Inc. share their strategies in achieving both of those goals.
Larry Holt serves as Vice President of Business Development for Greater Portland Inc., working with his business development colleagues and regional partners to attract business to the region. Mr. Holt manages both domestic and international outbound sales missions for Greater Portland Inc. (GPI), meeting with key corporate decision-makers about critical location decisions. GPI provides support and services to companies seeking to relocate or expand in Greater Portland, a region that spans two states and seven counties. A true public-private partnership model, GPI is supported by more than 70 public- sector partners (including Oregon City) and private investors who are committed to advancing regional economic development through job growth and investment. GPI and our partners are shaping the region’s economic future and marketing Greater Portland to the world.
Previously, Mr. Holt served as Assistant Director of Economic Development for Cedar Park, Texas. While in Cedar Park, Larry helped attract the aerospace, advanced manufacturing, information technology, and clean energy industries. These projects led to over 1,500 jobs and $85 million dollars of new capital investment in Cedar Park. Larry started his career with the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce where he served as Director of Research and BRE for the 5- county Birmingham-Hoover MSA.
